What is my NBN service class?

When you connect with us we'll send you some emails, one of which will identify your service class for you. You can also check your service class at any time by visiting the NBN Co website and entering your address.

What does my service class mean for me?

Part of the nbn™ rollout involves identifying which nbn™ technology (service class) will be available at which address. Your service class is not always final, and may change during the rollout of the nbn™ as the technologies evolve.

Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)

Service Class Description Installation Time Technician Required
Service Class 0 The location will be serviceable by fibre (FTTP) in the future, but it's not ready yet – NBN hasn’t finished connecting the local area. Aussie customers can pre-sign, but you will have to wait until the area is ready for service. N/A N/A
Service Class 1 Your address is serviceable by fibre, but does not yet have an exterior box or an interior Network Termination Device (NTD) installed inside. Service class 1 addresses may order a service, and a technician will be scheduled install your NTD. 5-20 Business Days Yes
Service Class 2 Your address is serviceable by fibre, has a box outside but does not have an NTD installed inside. Service class 2 addresses may order a service, and a technician will be scheduled to install your NTD. 5-20 Business Days Yes
Service Class 3 Your address is serviceable by fibre, all exterior and interior devices are installed. Your connection will only take a few business days. 1 Business Day No

Fixed Wireless (FW)

Service Class 4 Your address is planned to be serviced by fixed wireless. At this stage, we cannot place an order for you, but you can visit our page and check your address - afterwards, you can leave your details and we'll call you back once your service class is updated. N/A N/A
Service Class 5 Your address is serviceable by fixed wireless, but there is no exterior equipment (antenna) or NTD installed. If you place an order with us we can schedule an appointment to have these installed. 5-20 Business Days Yes
Service Class 6 Your address is serviceable by fixed wireless. Your connection will only take a few business days. 1-2 Business Days No

Satellite

Service classes 7 to 9 are satellite services and not currently supported by SpinTel.

Fibre to the Node (FTTN)

Service Class 10 Your address is planned to be serviceable by copper (FTTN or FTTB). At this stage, we cannot place an order for you, but you can visit our page and check your address - afterwards, you can leave your details and we'll call you back once your service class is updated. N/A N/A
Service Class 11 Your address is serviceable by copper (FTTN or FTTB) however some additional work is required to connect your service. You may order a service with us and we'll schedule your appointment. 5-20 Business Days Yes
Service Class 12 Your address is serviceable by copper (FTTN or FTTB) and your connection will require either a field appointment (a technician works on the provisioning of your service remotely), or a technician will visit your premises to get connected. 1-2 Business Days Yes
Service Class 13 Your address is serviceable by copper (FTTN or FTTB) and no appointment is required. Your connection will only take a few business days. 1-2 Business Days No

Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC)

Service Class 20 Your address is planned to be serviced by Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC). At this stage, we cannot place an order for you, but you can visit our page and check your address - afterwards, you can leave your details and we'll call you back once your service class is updated. N/A N/A
Service Class 21 Your address is serviceable by HFC, but there is no lead-in or NTD installed. If you place an order with us we can schedule an appointment to have these installed. 5-20 Business Days Yes
Service Class 22 Your address is serviceable by HFC, has a lead-in but does not have a wall-plate or an NTD installed inside. You may order a service, and a technician will be scheduled to install your wall-plate and NTD. 5-20 Business Days Yes

Fibre to the Curb (FTTC)

Service Class 32 Your address is serviceable by FTTC, has a lead-in but it is not connected to a Distribution Point Unit (DPU). An NBN™ Connection Device (NCD) is required. You may order a service, and a technician will be scheduled to install your wall-plate and NTD. 5-20 Business Days Yes
Service Class 33 Your address is serviceable by FTTC, has a lead-in connected to a DPU You may order a service. An NBN™ Connection Device (NCD) is required and will be sent to you. 5-20 Business Days No
